What is the added value of the BBM?

One of the main things the BBM does is protect the interests of dental hygienists, both nationally and internationally. We also connect you to potential workplaces by sharing open vacancies, among other things.
Each year, we organise a number of courses, as it is compulsory for dental hygienists to attend additional training of 15 hours each year. The BBM also ensures that the qualitative professional practices and the socio-economic interests described in the Belgian Royal Decree are monitored. With BBM membership you can take advantage of discounted rates on select insurance policies. Our monthly digital newsletter and bi-annual e-magazine keep you up-to-date with all our activities, the latest policy developments and other interesting facts.
You can log in to our website for exclusive information and enjoy reduced price access to the spring event for dental hygienists. In addition, there is a discounted rate for other training and courses organised by and in collaboration with the BBM. You can also get free advice on salaries and other employment conditions.

How much does membership cost?

160 euros/year for a qualified dental hygienist (Bachelor in Dental Hygiene).

What do BBM events include exactly?

We try to organise events aimed at dental hygiene professionals. We contribute to the ongoing education of dental hygienists and organise events to bring this group of professionals into contact with each other and others involved in dental hygiene. Education, professionalisation and interdisciplinary networking with a snack and a drink – this is the best way to sum up BBM events.

Will I be kept up-to-date with all the latest info?

As a BBM member, you will always have the most up-to-date information. You can also follow us on social media for the latest news.

If I graduated in another country, can I just start working as a dental hygienist in Belgium?

In Belgium, Dental Hygienist is a regulated profession. If you graduated in another country and you want to work as a dental hygienist in Belgium, you must have a visa, and have your degree either recognised or converted. More information about this can be found here.

Does the BBM still play a role if I apply for a vacancy?

No, your application will be sent straight to the employer. After that, you communicate with each other directly. But you can always contact the BBM if you have any questions about salaries and/or employment conditions.

Can I cancel my membership whenever I like?

Your membership, and the corresponding membership fee paid, is valid for one year. If you cancel your membership before the end of that year, you will not receive any refund. After this period you are free to adjust your membership as you like.
